The Trailer Dryer

The trailer dryer can be a versatile drying vehicle for high-performance on-site applications.

The ready to use, all-weather trailer solution for mobile high-capacity drying applications, for instance for the more extensive drying operations of newly constructed buildings, for restoration applications or as a quick, but temporary alternative solution in case of stationary equipment failure.

We take a look at the two types on the market. The Desiccant and Heater trailer dryers

Desiccant Trailer Dryer

The desiccant rotor is coated with Silica Gel, a crystal with enormous amounts of microscopic pores which makes its total surface very large. A single gram has an active surface of 500 to 700m2 and the material can absorb water corresponding up to 40% of its own weight.

Silica gel is not water soluble and can therefore not be washed away nor dissipate into the passing air.
The process air fan draws the process air through the filter and the rotor, letting the Silica Gel dry
it and then leaves the machine through the dry air outlets. Meanwhile, another fan is drawing regeneration air through the regeneration air hatch. This air is heated by the regeneration heater before it moves through a sector segment of the rotor. The water in the rotor is carried as vapour by the wet air that is evacuated from the area to be dried through the wet air hose.

Depending on capacity requirements they will be supplied in different combinations of industrial desiccant dehumidifiers.

This offers a mobile solution with flow rates of up to 8,200 m³ of dry air per hour and a dehumidification capacity of up to 1,109 litres per day.

The desiccant trailer dryer machine can be located both indoors and outdoors.

  • Ideal for large, demanding drying jobs and building dehumidification
  • Can be lifted by a forklift truck or crane
  • Simple start-up, operation and monitoring
  • One person can transport, set up and operate the A50 TD2 alone
  • Controlled and maintained via touch panel
  • Energy efficient: Recovers 85 % of the heat, thanks to the patented technology
  • High capacity – up to 450 l/day
  • A B-class driving licence is required to transport the machine.
  • Connected via a 400V 63A cable.

Heater Trailer Dryer

The system works to produce an optimised drying environment any weather, Winter or Summer, rainforest or artic conditions – and even better, in any UK weather conditions.

To do this, fresh filtered clean air from outside is drawn into the machine where it is conditioned to provide heated dry air in large volumes.

This increases the moisture content each cubic meter of air can hold and injects it into a building to be dried. The building is therefore both heated and pressurised.

The hot air chamber created within the building absorbs moisture like a sponge from the wet building structure and moisture is drawn from materials.

The water saturated air is then removed from the building by a method of venting to the outside.

Air movers circulate a large volume airflow throughout the building.

The result is fast drying without secondary damage caused by uncontrolled heating and evaporation. A benefit of this fast drying process is that the wholesale stripping out of building fabric, usually undertaken is almost always not entirely necessary. Less strip out significantly reduces the time and cost impact resulting from serious water damage.

The heat trailer dryer can quietly do the work of dozens of dehumidifiers all from one 13amp or 110v power supply. The portable machine will do the work of up to four commercial portable dehumidifiers in average UK conditions using between 5 and 12.5 amps (taken from one 13 amp power socket).
